On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the Leadership Council of the National Alliance, chaired by Mr. Karzan Luqman, convened its regular session in the city of Sulaymaniyah with the full participation of council members.

The meeting addressed the current political and security situation in Iraq, with particular focus on the Kurdistan Region. Discussions underscored the critical importance of preparation, strategic planning, unity, and enhanced coordination among political forces across all four parts of the region, in light of the ongoing volatile and challenging conditions.

The Council also reviewed the Alliance’s preparations for the upcoming elections to the Iraqi Council of Representatives. This included assessments of organizational readiness, engagement with electoral institutions, financial planning, public awareness campaigns, and ensuring transparency throughout the electoral process.

Additionally, the internal dynamics of the National Alliance were evaluated. The Council reviewed recent activities, implemented necessary structural adjustments, and outlined key plans and programs for the upcoming phase.

Response to the Statement of the National Alliance Leadership Council

We highly appreciate the convening of the regular meeting of the National Alliance Leadership Council, chaired by Mr. Karzan Luqman. We affirm the importance of continuing such meetings, especially in light of the critical circumstances facing our region, Iraq, and particularly the Kurdistan Region.

We welcome the Council’s emphasis on planning, coordination, and the unification of political efforts. These steps are essential to confront the growing challenges and to mitigate the increasing risks on both local and regional levels.

We also express our support for the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Iraqi parliamentary elections. We stress the importance of ensuring transparency and integrity throughout all stages of the electoral process, as well as empowering monitoring bodies to guarantee fair representation that reflects the aspirations of the people.

Furthermore, we value the internal assessment conducted by the National Alliance and the review of its recent activities. We hope this will serve as a foundation for strengthening collective work and solidifying democratic principles in a way that contributes to a better future for all.
